Rockin’ Roni

Roni burst into class like Elvis – pink guitar slung low, white jumpsuit shining. She slid on her knees and sang:
“I’m ready to learn, I’m ready to shine,
But first, let’s start with a rockin’ time!”
Her classmates laughed. Her teachers? Not so much.
In math: “Math is neat, but music’s my beat!”
In science: “Opposites attract, yeah, that’s a fact!”
Each class ended the same – cheers from kids, groans from grownups.
Sent to the principal, she sighed, “The music just comes alive in me.”
Mr. Jamison smiled. “Let’s find the right stage.”
The next day: a surprise talent show.
“Roni, lead us in a sing-along!”
She strummed:
“Books and bells and cafeteria smells,
We’ve got stories to tell, and music as well!”
The applause thundered.
Later, she found a note in her guitar case:
“You rock! From your #1 fan.”
Roni wondered.
Elvis?
